
Sugar-Free Dried Mulberry Jam Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup dried mulberries
1 ½ cups water
½ cup mashed banana or unsweetened applesauce (for natural sweetness)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1 tablespoon chia seeds (to help thicken, optional)
Directions:
Soften the Mulberries:
Place the dried mulberries in a small pot and pour in the water.
Let them soak for about 20-30 minutes until they become plump and tender.
Cook the Mixture:
Set the pot over medium heat and add the mashed banana or applesauce.
Stir well to combine and let the mixture gently simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Occasionally mash the mulberries with a spoon or blend for a smoother texture.
Enhance the Flavor:
Stir in the lemon juice, cinnamon, and vanilla extract for extra depth of flavor.
If you prefer a thicker jam, mix in the chia seeds and let it cook for another 5 minutes.
Cool & Store:
Once the jam has thickened to your liking, remove it from the heat and let it cool.
Transfer to a clean jar and refrigerate for up to two weeks.
This jam is naturally sweet, free from added sugar, and works beautifully as a spread or topping!
